Description

this is how i see all Polynesian women beautiful strong and perfect our Wahine should b by our sides not behind us or below us they r all born with the strength of Queens and Warriors they hold us in balance and should be respected cherished and loved, look to the past to the days before western contact in the pacific and u will see that Polynesian Women were not looked down on they have always been held as sacred, they r our mothers sisters wives they alone can create life

looking at our wahine as anything less than equal is a mentality that was introduced into our cultures by outsiders by the same people that looked at us as savage the same people that came to our islands and claimed the land as theirs that said our traditions and beliefs were pagan and wrong and the same people that exposed us to disease that came and said we were not fit to rule our selves, It was these people that brought with them the IDEA that our beautiful WAHINE (women) r somehow inferior and shouldn't be considered equal to KANE (men)....... just a little something to think about it next time u look at a Polynesian woman

this piece started off as a personal exercise (I'm getting back into drawing after a long break) this is a piece in my blackbook that wasn't going to be shown, but one day i decided to bring my book to the beach and add the Tatau and as people came to see what i was doing they kept getting stuck on her breasts not even seeing the Tatau design they looked at it like porn in some ways like it was something to b ashamed of that started to get to me because it wasn't y i did the piece at all so here it is with my explanation

the female form is one of the most beautiful things ever created, and its one of my favorite subjects one of the easiest and yet most difficult subject, its a basic concept for a series i have planned showcasing traditional Tatau, and the female form (i choose to use depict her with a idealized concept of beauty to catch the attention this standard of beauty is how i see all women)
